"The Eleventh Hour": an expression meaning "at the last possible moment". It comes from a passage in the bible which is famously difficult to interpret.
The unlucky number. (Friday the 13th is especially unlucky.) Apparently you can get around the back luck by just refusing to label things with a 13, even if there are actually 13 of them.
In Swedish, several numbers function as minor swear words. Vad i sjutton! literally means "what in seventeen", but it's more or less equivalent to "what the hell" in English. Others include tusan (thousand), but 17 is the only two-digit Swedish curse.
